BLOOMINGTON, Minn.?C Student-athletes in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference continue to achieve within both athletics and in the class room. For the third consecutive yr, the MIAC has recognized more than 1,000 student-athletes with Academics All-Conference honors.

On Tuesday, the MIAC announced its 2017-18 Winter and Early spring Academic All-Conference Teams, which included a record 695 student-athletes. Combined with the 412 Fall-sport athletes who were thankful in January, the overall overall of Academic All-Conference selections for the 2017-18 instructional year sets a new Conference-high of one,107, surpassing the previous record of 1,033, set last June.

This year’ohydrates Academic All-Conference list spotlights Just one,107 examples of student-athletes achieving excellence with out compromise.?The nearly 800 Winter and Spring honorees also represents the highest seasonal total in MIAC history. Women’s open-air track and field brought about the way with 72 honorees plus softball was next having 66 honorees. Men’s hockey wrecked the highest number of honorees for all winter/spring men’ohydrates sports with 56.

In to qualify for Academic All-MIAC status, student-athletes should be sophomores, juniors, or seniors by instructional standards with a minimum collective grade-point average of 3.5 on the 4.0 scale. Athletically, student-athletes with team sports must participate in 50 percent of their team’s regular-season varsity contests. The winter/spring staff sports eligible include baseball, men’s and women’s tennis, men’s and women’s tennis, softball and men’s together with women’s tennis. In addition, football pitchers who made five styles or completed 20 innings pitched were eligible, as have been hockey goalies who played in one-third of the team’s total minutes played for the regular season.

The Wintertime and Spring individual sports each have sport-specific criteria, and they include golf, swimming and diving and both indoor and outdoor track and field. Golfers must remain competitive in the MIAC Championships or develop a minimum of 12 competitive circuits in order to be eligible for the honor. The actual swimming and diving certification?require a student-athlete to finish in the top rated 16 of an individual event or compete in a communicate race at the MIAC championships to be eligible. Track and discipline qualifications require student-athletes to score inside an individual event or vie on a relay team at the MIAC Championships.

MIAC Academic All-Conference honors usually are announced twice annually, after the completion of the fall and spring season academic semesters.
