Lady Tiders top Lady Bearcats; Tide stumble against Bulldogs
The Minden Lady Tiders picked up right where they left off last season, dominating the Ruston Girl Bearcats in front of an energetic opening-night crowd within the Palace for a 57-43 victory. Brain coach Jacob Brown’s team is definitely reloaded following a 25-5 season inand they looked the part of a contender within their first contest of the year.
“I thought our girls managed a good job of being lively defensively,” Brown said. “Our attempt was there.”
Minden led 22-15 just after one quarter and 33-25 at halftime after Sha Whiting’s rebound and put-back at the buzzer.
When Ruston minimize Minden’s lead to 3 in the finally quarter, junior Bre Rodgers and Tayler Lenders connected on back-to-back 3-pointers to quiet the Lady Bearcat surge.
The Lady Tiders completed the third quarter on a 7-0 work and extended that in the fourth quarter on a 13-0 cost push their advantage to 49-33.
“I believed we hit key gift baskets in key moments tonight,” Brown said. “I commend our girls on their work tonight. They’re really exciting to watch when they get going so they enjoy each other’s success.”
Rodgers led the team with 14 issues, followed by Derrica Gilbert with 13, Sha’Terra “Strawberry” Batton with 10, Tayler Banks by using 9 and Destini Powell and Whiting together with 6 each.
Minden vs. Gibsland- Coleman
The Minden Crimson Tide took the court next, unable to match bins with a more experienced Gibsland-Coleman team on their way to a 70-49 defeat.
“We’re very young in addition to inexperienced,” second-year head teacher of the Tide Rennie Bailey said.
“I’m all right with my team and I’m pleased with some of the things most of us did. We’re going to get better, but the only way we’re going to do that is actually by playing more games.”
Curtis Davidson and Trey Oliver each scored 17 points to pace the Minden the offense, while Cedrick Emerson chipped in Twelve points.
Both teams resume participate in the Lakeside Don Stahl Memorial Tournament. Minden works Doyline Thursday at 8 signifiant.m., while the Lady Tiders engage in Wednesday at 8 s.m. against Lakeview.
