Minden falls to Ellender, 74-64


HOUMA – The Minden Lady Tiders came simply just short of escaping south Louisiana with a playoff victory.

But foul trouble and turnovers spelled doom when Ellender defeated Minden 74-64 Monday night from the second round of the LHSAA Class 4A playoffs.

Ellender led 23-20 after a fast-paced initially quarter. In the second quarter, that pace continued since both teams traded buckets until the halftime buzzer sounded with Ellender in place 45-40.

The Lady Tiders could never cutting-edge to take a lead while using the Lady Patriots beating Minden to loose balls and getting to the break down line all night.

Ellender also cranked up the defense against Minden by means of staying in a full-court press many of the night, resulting in 25 turnovers to the Lady Tiders.

In the fourth quarter, Minden simply just couldn’t come up with the bargains necessary to erase what was regularly a 7 to 10 point debts.

“I thought our girls brought everything they have,” Brownish said. “Ellender played really well, some people beat us to a lot of reduce balls and we didn’t transform on all of our opportunities; I believed they hit the cup hard on both ends.”

Derrica Gilbert gave Minden plenty of offense, finishing by using 21 points to lead all Lady Tiders. Strawberry Batton had Sixteen points in support; Bre Rodgers included 9 points and Sha Whiting acquired 8.

Minden wraps up the season having a 25-6 record. With zero retirees on the roster, Brown and his awesome girls will refocus and utilize this loss as gasoline for next season.

“I thought we were treated to a great season this year,In Brown said. “I love the following group of girls and how some people came together. Their expectations may be successful tonight and I believed they competed and presented everything they had. We’ll collect yourself and put another run with each other next year until we get to that ultimate goal.”
