Minden High senior Francis signs with Pilots

Tuesday was quite a day to get Minden High senior Trace Francis.

First, he got to enjoy his last day’s high school with the class of Then simply, he signed a college scholarship to continue his baseball work at Louisiana State Higher education of Shreveport.

Francis, the son associated with Minden High baseball head instructor Dean Francis, was excited about the potential clients of continuing his occupation as a Pilot.

“I’m just very happy to have this opportunity to play along at the next level,” Trace Francis said. “I’m just glad somebody has been willing to give me the opportunity.”

Francis gamed third base and drink pitcher for the Crimson Tide in his career, but will retire his particular infielder’s glove for a permanent right the mound.

It’s a move the capability right-hander is excited about.

“When I spoke to coach Brent Lavallee he said the main thing this individual was excited about was the breaking pitch,” Francis claimed. “He said he can’t teach the breaking pitch. That’s just something that’s in the DNA. He knows my rate isn’t where it needs to be for me to be a dominant college glass pitcher, but he said he can acquire me there. I like exactly what he had to say there.”

Francis should have the opportunity to continue his profession close to home for a most recognized NAIA program where friends and family may come watch him play, one thing he doesn’t take for granted.

“It’s much better than going off,” Francis said. “I understand a lot of people think the college encounter is about going off, and I might be living in Shreveport, but it’s better to be close in case you need to come home plus go to church or get some of grandma’s cooking.”

Grandma’s preparing food will never be far away, and neither will probably Francis’s biggest fan.

“There’s a lot of exhilaration on our part being a parent,” Dean Francis said. “There’s a lot of time and your money put in to get to this point and it’s just a blessing regarding him to be able to go and continue his career nearby at a good school with higher coaches.”

Francis has one more activity to play before he actions to the college ranks, the LHSCA All-Star Game in Denham Springs, May possibly 20-21 at North Park.
