Minden Tide reach end for road with 11-1 loss to Griffins


The Minden Crimson Tide were assured heading into their first round matchup with the North DeSoto Griffins following sweeping a two-game series during district play earlier this year.

However, the Griffins turned the game tables on the Tide this time around, taking control of Tuesday’s game and rolling a great 11-1 win over Minden.

The loss brings Minden’s period to a close. The Keep finish with a record for 14-12 as runner-up in district 1-4A.

The decline will be difficult to swallow regarding Minden’s 10 seniors, a group this gave phenomenal effort evening in and night out.

“When you may have that many seniors it’s tough to shed them all in one year,Inch Minden head coach Dean Francis said. “These young ones have been together a long time so i hate they had to go out and about that way. It’s a special set, like a family.”

The Tide required an early lead in the top of the first inning, going up 1-0.

North DeSoto responded utilizing three runs in their own one half of the first, followed by a five-run 2nd inning, two-run third and the game’s outstanding run in the fourth.

Senior Know Francis was the losing pitcher for Minden, allowing 10 traffic before giving way to Gavin Smith for the final two innings. Henderson gave up one hit along with struck out one mixture in relief.

Justin McCready drove during the lone run for the Hold with a single. Matt Eskew, Gunner Stephens together with Cade Coleman also had singles for Minden.

“You keep telling kids at some point this moment will be here,” Francis said. “After the game it confirmed, the emotions and all those things emerge when it’s finally over, nevertheless group left a good feeling on the younger kids. We played hard, it was just N . DeSoto’s night.”
