North Webster solid in to begin with round win over Patterson

SPRINGHILL C North Webster lives to play a later date.

The Knights (23-6) defeated the Patterson Lumberjacks Mondy night at home 6-3 to keep their period alive and advance in order to round two of the Class 3A 2009-2010 nfl season.

North Webster did most of their damage in the five-run fifth inning. Knights head mentor Dane Peavy credited his team regarding battling against a better-than-expected Lumberjack group.

“I felt like they were as good as a 26 seed,In Peavy said. “They’re well-coached. You respect just about every opponent in a do and also die situation like the playoffs. Our guys were located in.”

Kade Garmany scored the game’s primary run in the third inning using a passed ball, setting up Riley Orr with an RBI single to score Blake Atchley. Connor McClure came finished a clutch 2-RBI double to get Logan Vidrine and Daniel Lewis later in the inning.

In the final inning, Patrick Modisette scored from finally on a well-executed sacrifice bunt by Riley Orr to really make the score 6-0.

North Webster starting pitcher Logan Vidrine seemed to be excellent on the bump, proceeding all seven innings for the Knights.

Vidrine ran into some trouble inside late stages of the online game due to a pair of fielding errors. Patterson won two runs in the 5th and added another function in the seventh inning to bring a score to 6-3.

With two outs inside the seventh and a runner about second, Vidrine struck out the Lumberjacks five-hole hitter to end the game and mail North Webster into the second round.
Vidrine struck out six batters and scattered seven visitors on the night.

“It was just a complete great effort by we tonight,” Peavy said. “Heck of effort from Logan Vidrine on the mound, we hunted the fastball while hitting. We got through this game upon emotion, now we get three to four days rest before people hop back on it a few days ago.”

The Knights will host Maple Prairie in round two following your Panthers upset No. 10 seed starting De La Salle Monday night. To start a date hasn’t been set yet for that second round matchup.
